Story by Pauline Napangardi Gallagher

Kinki Kinki is a story book used as a Warlpiri literacy resource for young children at Yuendumu School. This animation was created and animated by Jason Japaljarri Woods and students from years five and six at the local school. Jason designed and built the character cut outs and then brought them to the school to be decorated. The students also drew and coloured in the backgrounds used in the animation. Over a few visits to the classroom the characters’ walk cycles were animated against a portable blue screen using stop motion. All these elements were then brought back to the PAW Media studio where Jason composited the scenes together in After Effects. The singing is performed by children from years one and two at the school with the help of their Warlpiri teachers Barbara Martin and Cecily Granites.

Thanks is due to all the students and staff involved from Yuendumu School and for the support of the Bilingual Resources Development Unit.
