Story told by Henry Jakamarra Cook
Animated by Jason Japaljarri Woods using sand drawing, clay and found objects
This animation is of an early days story of when Warlpiri came across a European camp and found a good use for their tents. Majardi is a hair-string belt or skirt that ‘karnta’ (women) wear for ceremonial dances called Yawulyu. Hair is rolled into a string using a rubbing technique on the thigh and spun onto a stick spindle and then made into a belt or skirt.
